Mrs. Simpson was a native of Beekman, but a resident of Crossett, a nurses assistant, and a member of Temple of Deliverance Church. She was preceded in death by her husband, Claude Simpson in April 2003 and by her parents, Melvin & Goldmer Lee Givens. She is survived by three sons, Clifton, wife Cindy Simpson of Crossett, Kevin, wife Alisa Simpson of Camden, Ark. and Melvin Simpson of Fayetteville, N.C.; two daughters, Sheila Simpson and Evelyn Givens, both of Crossett; two brothers, Melvin Givens Jr. of Baton Rouge and Virgil Givens of Ossining, N.Y.; one sister, Betty Johnson of Ossining, N.Y.; and twelve grandchildren. Funeral services are Saturday, February 23, 2008 at 11 a.m. at Gates Chapel AME Church with Sis. Cindy Simpson officiating. Interment will follow in Beekman Cemetery under the directions of Cromwell Funeral Home of Hamburg, Ark. Pallbearers are Melvin and Kelvin Simpson, Clyde Simpson Jr., Rosario Ford, Robert Thomas, Lamarco Williams, Tim Webb and Wayne Shepard. Honorary pallbearers are Deacons and Trustees of Temple of Deliverance & Smith Temple Church.
