GOLDEN FUNERAL HOME - DECEMBER 2023
RUTH JOHNSON SIVILS

Funeral services for Mrs. Ruth Johnson Sivils, age 90, of Bastrop, LA, are 
scheduled for 2 p.m. Tuesday, December 19, 2023, at Bethel Baptist Church with 
Revs. Kyle Bryan, Rubin Weaver and Tim Post officiating. Interment will follow 
in Memorial Park Cemetery under the direction of Golden Funeral Home. Visitation 
will be held from 5 p.m. until 7 p.m. Monday, December 18, 2023, at Golden 
Funeral Home. 

Mrs. Ruth, a retired school bus driver and member of Bethel Baptist Church, 
passed away Sunday, December 17, 2023. She was raised in Fountain Hill, Arkansas 
and moved to Bastrop, Louisiana where she met her husband James Lester Johnson. 
They were married forty-nine years before his passing and had three children 
together. She lived her life as a Proverbs 31 woman. Ruth taught Sunday school 
to many ladies for over sixty years and also touched many children’s lives while 
being a school bus driver.

She is survived by her daughters, Karen Johnson Hayes and husband Jim, Sherri 
Johnson; son, Lester Johnson and wife Lori Ann; sisters, Agnes Wickham, Susie 
Whittington and husband Joe; grandchildren, Melanie Lane and husband Kyle, Josh 
Johnson, and wife Kate, Jennilee Rogers and husband Brad, Jake Johnson and wife 
Whitley, Jonathan Hayes and wife Brooke, Cole Johnson and wife Amber, Carly 
Secrest, Abbey Ganey and husband Michael, Sarah Beth Allen and husband Colby; 
twenty two great grandchildren and numerous nieces, nephews, cousins and 
friends. 

After the death of her first, husband, she married Stanford Sivils. She accepted 
as her bonus family his daughters, Beverly Culp and husband Bruce, Karen Cox and 
husband Bubba; his sons, Randy Sivils and wife Anita and Stan Sivils along with 
numerous grandchildren and great grandchildren.

Mrs. Ruth is preceded in death by her parents, Chester and Lucy Fairchild; 
husbands, James Lester Johnson, Stanford Sivils; son, Todd Johnson and siblings, 
Tom Fairchild, Lamarcus Fairchild, Anna Tidwell, Sarah Malone and Eddie Ogden.

Memorial contributions may be made to Bethel Baptist Church, 14489 Crossett 
Highway, Bastrop, Louisiana 71220.

Serving as pallbearers are Jerry Daugherty, Donny Tillman, Sammy Eldridge, Ray 
Wilkerson, Kris Fulmer and Chad Newell.
