BASTROP DAILY ENTERPRISE - February 07, 1977
VEMON H. SMITH

Vemon H. Smith, 74, former resident of Bastrop, died at his home in Houston, 
Texas about 6 p.m. Saturday after an extended illness.

Funeral services will be held at the Eleventh Street Church of God Tuesday
and interment will be in a Houston Cemetery.

He is survived by his wife, the former Lois Ward of Oak Grove; one daughter, 
Mrs. Dan Gaither of Jacksonville, Fla; seven sisters, Miss Esther Smith, and 
Mrs. Eunice Carter of Bastrop, Mrs. Johnny Braswell of Lufkin, Mrs. Eugene
Brodnax of Daphne, Ala, Mrs. Eva Cole of Metairie, Mrs. Ruthie Johnston of North
Bend, Oregon, Mrs. Doris Helvering of Lake Wales, Fla; four brothers, Hubert
Smith of Corrigan, Texas, Everett Smith of Crossett, Orville of La Place, Nathan
Smith, missionary in Fukuoka, Japan.
