SMITHWICK Funeral services will be held at 10 a.m. Friday, Jan. 26, 2001, at 10 a.m. at Osborn Funeral Home Chapel in Shreveport with the Rev. N.J. Scott officiating. Interment will follow at Carter Cemetery in Bastrop at 3 p.m. with Mr. Waymon Swain officiating. Visitation will be held at Osborn's on Friday from 9 a.m. until time of service. Mr. Smithwick died at Lagniappe Hospital on Tuesday, Jan. 16. Mr. Smithwick was a native of Dunn and a resident of Shreveport for two years and former resident of Bastrop for 10 years. He was a World War II Navy veteran. He is survived by one daughter, Deborah Hooper; three sons, Robert Leo Smithwick, Michael Lee Smithwick and Gary Lynn Smithwick; one grandchild, Travis; five sisters, Ida Mae Dick, Cora Lee Heath, Mary Porter, Gladys Porter and Lola Smith and four brothers, Pete, Billy, Bernard and Carl Smithwick. The family requests that memorials be made in lieu of flowers to Disabled American Veterans and would also like to express their sincere appreciation to Lagniappe Hospital for the care they gave to Mr. Smithwick and his family.
