David Sistrunk officiating. Interment will follow in Memorial Park Cemetery. The family will receive friends Thursday, February 12, 2026, from 5 PM until 7 PM at Golden Funeral Home. Mr. Taylor, a member of North Bastrop Church of God, passed away Tuesday, February 10, 2026, at the age of ninety-five. He retired from the International Paper Company and was no stranger to hard work, both at the mill and at home. He will always be remembered as an "Awesome" papaw, for the love and dedication he gave to his grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and great-great grandchildren. Family was his life and was centered around his faith in Jesus and his desire for them to know and serve the Lord. Mr. Taylor lived a simple life and provided well for his family. He had no fear of death because of his hope in Jesus. Mr. Taylor is survived by his children, Debbie Taylor Baker and husband Glen of Bastrop, LA, Brenda Taylor Atkins and husband Fred of Bastrop, LA, Phyllis Taylor Rhodes and husband Jerry of Bastrop, LA, and Lisa Taylor Smith and husband Jimbo of Linville, LA; sister, Alice "Topsy" Freeland; grandchildren, Tim Baker and wife Michelle, Shay Baker Smith and husband Trey, Brandon Baker and wife Jenny, Kimberly Atkins Cooper and husband Bryan, Kristal Atkins Hayman and husband Neil, Jeremy Rhodes and wife Chasity, Kaci Rhodes McMillan and husband Kaleb, Kelli Rhodes Marus and husband Casey, Jr., Samantha Smith Kitchenman and husband Justin, Erik Taylor Smith and wife Casey; twenty great grandchildren; ten great-great grandchildren; special friend and pastor, Bro. David Sistrunk; and numerous nieces, nephews, cousins and friends. He is preceded in death by his wife of sixty-three years, Ruth Virginia Woolsey Taylor; parents, John Kenneth Taylor and Mamie Harris Taylor; two sisters, two brothers, and great-grandson, Timothy Cole Baker. Serving the family as pallbearers will be Mr. Taylor's grandsons, Tim Baker, Jeremy Rhodes, Erik Smith, Josh Jones, and Jordan Jones, as well as grandson-in- law, Neil Hayman.
