TOWNSEND Funeral services for Rev. Lynn E. "Bro. Lynn" Townsend, 90, are scheduled for 10 AM, Friday, January 13, 2017, in the chapel of Golden Funeral Home with Bro. Lloyd Townsend, Bro. Bodie Spicer, Bro. Andy Myrick, and Bro. Jerry Price officiating. Interment will follow in Memorial Park Cemetery under the direction of Golden Funeral Home. Visitation will be held Thursday, January 12, 2017 from 5 PM until 7 PM at Golden Funeral Home. Bro. Lynn was proud of his military service. He was a Marine, and served during World War II, in the South Pacific. He joined the military at the age of seventeen to help support his family. He was even more proud of his service to his Lord and Savior. After surrendering to preach, he attended and graduated from the New Orleans Baptist Theological Seminary. He served as pastor of five different churches during his fifty-six years of ministry. He was a compassionate, sweet-spirited person, and had a passion for God's Word. He was a prayer warrior, soul winner, intercessor, and church builder. Bro. Townsend is survived by his wife of 66 years, Bobbie Knight Townsend; daughters, Vicki Townsend Garlington and husband Arthur R. of Swartz, LA, Karen Townsend Rawls and husband Aubrey of Eros, LA; son, Tim Townsend of Blue Eye, MO; brother, Bro. Lloyd Townsend and wife Hazel of Crossett, AR; grandchildren, Rob Garlington, and wife Tara, Spencer Rawls, Kayleigh Seale and husband Michael, Lora Marie Diggs and husband Eric, Andy Townsend, Tim Ernst and wife Katie; great grandchildren, Garret Garlington, Abbey Garlington, Ella Garlington, Liam Seale, Mileigh Seale and Gabriella Diggs and numerous nieces, nephews and cousins. He is preceded in death by his father, Henry W. Townsend; mother, Mary Jane Sanders Townsend; three brothers and five sisters.
