She was born on July 19, 1962, in Bastrop, Louisiana, to Eugene and Fannie (Winters) Mardis. Cynthia was known for the love she had for her family. Specifically, her husband, Gregg in which they would have shared 44 years together this July. Her daughters were her everything and the love she had for them was one she explained as a love you will never understand until you have kids of your own. In 2018, Cynthia earned her most favorite title of all, Cissy. Cynthia's love for her 6 grandchildren was unmatched. Each one of them known as Cissy's love loves. That title was one she took much pride and joy in. Cynthia worked as a Team Lead, Underwriting Ops for FCCI Insurance Group and was known for her kindness, her steady spirit, and her deep love for the Lord. Each morning, her day started with a cup of coffee and reading the Word. She cherished those early mornings sitting in the quiet, reading, and praying. She set by example. Her happy places were the beach which she visited every year with family soaking in God's creation and quality time with her husband, kids, and grandkids. The place she enjoyed most of all was Walt Disney World where pure joy and excitement filled her. When she couldn't escape to Disney or the beach, you could find her at her favorite Mexican restaurant eating chips and queso with a Diet Coke. Cynthia is survived by her husband of 43 years, Gregg Trussell; her daughters Mallory Godfrey (Derrick), Taylor Stover (Josh), and Abby Douglas (Scott); her sister Jennifer Stuart (Reid); her grandchildren Mae Mardis Godfrey, Russell Godfrey, Emmett Stover, Harris Stover, Lee Stover, and Will Douglas; her niece Brooke McFarland (Nate); her nephews Justin Gordon (Lauren), Jace Gordon (Holly), and Tyler Trussell; and her brothers-in-law Todd Lane and Daniel Trussell. She was preceded in death by her parents, Eugene and Fannie Mardis, and her sister Saundra Lane. Visitation will be held at Pinelake Church in Madison on Thursday, February 12, 2026, from 10:00-11:30, followed by a Celebration of Life at 11:30 am. Entombment will be private. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Food for the Hungry: https://www.fh.org/ Cissy, we love you to the moon and back, moon and back, moon and back. See you soon.
