VERDA VICKERS

Mrs. Verda Vickers, age 83, died at 12:45 p.m. Saturday at Morehouse General 
Hospital following a lengthy illness.

 Funeral services were set for 2 p.m. today at the Canaan Baptist Church near 
Spearsville un Union Parish, with the Reverends John Mahoney, Orvelle Bryant 
Jr., and Paul Knous officiating.

Interment will follow in the Olive Branch Cemetery, near Spearsvile, under the 
direction of Kilpatrick's Funeral Home of Farmerville.

A native of Union Parish, Mrs. Vickers was former resident of Spearsville and 
was a member of the Canaan Baptist Church.

She is survived by two sons, James C. Vickers of Sulpher, La., and Bobby G. 
Vickers, Bastrop; four daughters, Mrs. Audrey Denton of Bastrop, Mrs. Marguerite 
Manning of Spearsville, Mrs. Betty Taylor of Atlanta, Tex., and Mrs. Ruth Ann 
Thomas of Mebane, North Carolina; a foster daughter, Mrs. Genece Herrick of 
Alexandria; 18 grandchildren and four great-grandchildren
