Marty Black officiating. Interment will follow at the Harper Springs Baptist Church Cemetery in Huttig, Ark. under the direction of Cox Funeral Home, Bastrop. Mr. Walker was born September 12, 1951 in Delhi, and he died Wednesday, February 25, 2009 at St. Francis Medical Center in Monroe after a long, courageous battle with Lymphoma. He was preceded in death by his father, M.C. Walker, Jr. and his mother, Relda Howard Walker. Don was a Real estate appraiser and owner of Walker Furniture of Lake Providence. He was also a member of the Bonita Road Baptist Church in Bastrop. He is survived by his wife, Sheila Rogers Walker of Bastrop; two daughters, Katie Walker of Monroe and Kasie Walker of Baton Rouge; two sons, Sam Myrick and wife, Kimberly of Austin, Texas, and Charlie Myrick and wife, Stacie, of Bossier City; three granddaughters, Ada Myrick of Austin, Texas, and Cooper and Cameron Myrick, both of Bossier City; stepmother, Annette Yates and husband Sammy of Forest; three sisters, Theresa Johns and husband, Ritchie of Jackson, Miss., Kim Bonnett and husband, Billy, of Oak Grove, Susie Jones and husband, David, of Oak Grove; father and mother-in-law, Tommy and Faye Rogers of Bastrop; two sisters-in-law, Tonya Carroll and husband, Mitch, of Bastrop, and Trena Andrews and husband, Terry of Calhoun; a cousin by birth but a brother in life, Mickey Read and wife, Clara, of West Monroe; nephews, Luke and Walker Johns of Jackson, Miss., Dustin, Dylan, and Dawson Jones of Oak Grove, Landon Ragland of Oak Grove, and Jacob Andrews of Calhoun; and nieces, Bailey Bonnett of Oak Grove, Holly Andrews Stover of Bastrop, and Vicky Carroll of Ruston. Serving as pallbearers are Tommy Shockley, John Nelson, Glen Custer, Ray Davidson, Paul Hopkins, and Kenny Powell. Visitation with the family will be held Friday evening, February 27, 2009 from 5 p.m. until 8 p.m. at Cox Funeral Home, Bastrop. Don truly was "the world's best daddy" and a wonderful friend to many. His huge smile would draw you in immediately and pretty soon you would have a friend for life. He will be forever missed and never forgotten.
