Minnie Belle was one of 12 children born to her parents. She accepted Christ as her Lord and Savior at an early age at New Bethany Baptist Church in Oak Ridge. After her family moved to Bastrop, she became a member of St. John Missionary Baptist Church. Minnie Belle attended school in Louisiana, later marrying the love of her life, Jonelle Williams. She gave birth to her beloved daughter, Dorothy Belle, who died at the tender age of two. In the mid-1940s, Minnie Belle, lovingly known as Buck, parted ways with Jonelle and moved to Berkeley, California. Minnie Belle loved church, family and her work. She joined Olivet Institutional Missionary Baptist Church in Oakland, California and remained a member for many decades. One of her many gifts of service to the Lord was hospitality. She made her home available to all, especially those in need. She never complained and generously offered encouragement. A hard and diligent worker, Minnie Belle did domestic work for the majority of her life. She loved beautiful things and believed that with hard work came many blessings. She was a wonderful aunt to her many nieces and nephews who became her children and life. Minnie Belle is survived by her loving brother, Mack Goldsby and his wife Jennifer of Bastrop, and a host of cousins, nieces, nephews, grandnieces, grandnephews, and friends who love her dearly. Funeral services were held for Minnie Belle Goldsby Williams at 11 a.m. Friday, December 21, 2007 at Olivet Institutional Missionary Baptist Church in Oakland California with the Rev. Gordon A. Humphrey Jr. officiating. Born December 26, 1918, she entered into rest Friday, December 14, 2007.
