Funeral services for Mr. Billy Ray Williams will be 2:00 p.m. Tuesday, August 3, 2010 at the Chapel of Cox Funeral Home of Bastrop with Bro. Alvin Stowe and Bro. Glenn Collins officiating. Interment will follow at the Pine Grove Cemetery-South in Bastrop under the direction of Cox Funeral Home, Bastrop. Billy Ray Williams was born February 12, 1946 in Mangham, Louisiana to the late Benjamin Franklin Williams and Bessie Mae Walker Williams. He passed away from his earthly life on Sunday, August 1, 2010 surrounded by his family at his home in Bastrop. Billy loved the Lord and he was wise in God's word. He was a member of the Midway Baptist Church and a retired electrician and air conditioning technician with the Morehouse Parish School Board. Billy will be remembered as a devoted and loving husband, father, and grandfather. He is preceded in death by his parents; his wife, Rita Elizabeth Houck Williams; a daughter, Sarah Elizabeth Young; and by eight brothers and sisters. Mr. Williams is survived by his two sons, Seth Ray Williams and Joseph Everett Williams both of Bastrop; his daughter, Alice Obenshain of Cabot, Arkansas; eight grandchildren, Micah Luke Young, Leah Grace Elizabeth Thames, Rowan Dianne Obenshain, Andrew John Obenshain, Emily Marie Williams, Jacob Ray Williams, Joseph Everett Williams, II, and Billy Edwin Williams; a sister, Bessie Faye Fletcher of Bastrop; two brothers, Benjamin Franklin Williams, Jr. and his wife, Shirley of Bastrop, and Earl Dean Drummond and his wife, Mary of Dallas, Texas; father-in-law, Clarence Houck, sister-in-law, Rhonda Houck and brother-in-law, Ronnie Houck all of Bastrop; and a brother-in-law, Eugene Gilley of Bastrop. Serving as pallbearers are Cary Williams, Glen Williams, Stevie Williams, Hank Williams, Jeff Williams, and Steven Williams. Visitation with the family will be 5:00 p.m. until 9:00 p.m. Monday evening, August 2, 2010 at Cox Funeral Home, Bastrop.
