Billy Vaughn and the Rev. Doug Edwards officiating. Mr. Winfrey was born August 21, 1916 in Jones and he died December 20, 2007 at the Cherry Ridge Guest Care in Bastrop. Joe Sam was a lifelong resident of Bonita where he owned and operated Joe's Snack Bar for many years. He also was retired from the Morehouse Parish Highway Department. Mr. Winfrey was a member and deacon of the Bonita Baptist Church and a veteran of World War II serving in the U.S. Army. Mr. Winfrey is proceeded in death by his wives, Sally Blankenship Winfrey and Letha Manning Winfrey; his parents, John and Elsie Winfrey; two sisters, Ozell McCready and Francis Wooden. He is survived by his son, Donald Winfrey; four grandchildren, Tiphini Montgomery and her husband Shane, Temple Gray and her husband Terry, Jennifer Jordan and her husband Tracy, Donald Shane Winfrey and his wife Brittany, and Jason Eric Winfrey and his wife Desi Ray; seven grandchildren; six grandchildren; and one great-grandchild.
