The funeral service will be held at Golden Funeral Home Chapel on Sunday, April 3, 2016 with Bro. Tim Post officiating. Visitation will be held Sunday from 12:30 - 1:30 PM service time at the funeral home. Interment will follow in Oak Grove Cemetery for his final resting place. Bill was born in Montrose, Arkansas on April 17, 1932. He was married to the love of his life, Arrie Zagar Woods on November 22, 1953. They made their home in Bastrop. Bill loved baseball, coaching, as well as watching. Go YANKEES!! He worked for International Paper Mill where he retired after 37 years of service, at the age of 58. Bill truly loved his family, country and life. He served in the military as a young man and continued to support local VFW with activities such as Easter egg hunts, bingo, putting flags out on holidays, as well as other numerous activities. Dad will be greatly missed. He truly demonstrated honor, commitment, love and dedication to everyone who had the privilege to know him. We will do our best to honor his life by carrying forward the lessons he taught us. Bill is survived by his wife, Arrie Woods; children, Dora Wallace and husband Claude, Billy Woods, Jr., and wife Penny; grandchildren, Heather, Nicholas, Michael, Jacob, Sean, and Bradley, as well as many great grandchildren. He is preceded in death by his parents, Willie and Clyde Woods; brothers and sisters, Frank, T.J., James, Pete, Sue, Beatrice, Agnes, and Leona. In lieu of flowers memorial donations may be made to the Alzheimer's Foundation of America in honor of Arrie Woods. The family of Billy Woods, Sr. wishes to thank everyone at Willis Knighten Medical Center, who cared for our Dad throughout this difficult time, especially the wonderful nurses on 2East.
