WALTER LEONARD JR. WOODS

A Christian Memorial Service will be held for W. Leonard Woods Jr., 51, in First 
Baptist Church in Slidell at 12 noon Thursday. The body will remain in the 
church from 10 a.m. until 12 noon and will be taken to the cemetery near Honaker 
Funeral Home for interment. Mr. Woods succumbed Tuesday to a long bout with 
cancer.

Mr. Woods was a former resident of Batrop and was a salesman from Brown-Roberts 
Hardware Co, before becoming a contractor here. The Woods family left here 
several years ago and since that time he been a prominent business man, having 
been engaged in the contracting business and owning several related businesses.

He was a member of First Baptist Chruch in Slidell and also several civic 
organizations.

He is survived by his wife, Mel; two daughters, Mrs. Steve Sibley and Sue Ellen 
Woods and one son, W.L. Woods III; two sisters, Mrs. Bob Brummett of Atlanta, 
Ga., Mrs. Ollie White, Alexandria; his mother, Mrs. W.L. Woods Sr., of New 
Orleans.
