She was 74. Born on March 3, 1951, at the Garnier Clinic in Bastrop, Louisiana, to Allen B. "Bud" Carter, Jr. and Lucile Ariel Wynn Carter, Margaret lived her youth to the fullest. In her younger years, she was the ultimate flower child and a true adventurer-always ready for something new and embracing the free-spirited energy of her generation. You knew you had a friend for life if she convinced you to participate in one of her "fun loving" activities. After dedicating three decades to her career at State Farm, she eventually settled into a peaceful retirement on Wynn Island, north of Start, Louisiana. Margaret was a woman of unique passions and deep loyalties. She was a devoted friend to a circle of extremely close companions (and their children). A natural ring leader, Margaret could convincingly recruit unsuspecting friends into situations that made them wonder where they left their good senses, but never failed to leave lasting memories. She was also a lifelong lover of animals and an avid collector of turtles. To her nieces and nephews, she was the legendary "Cool Aunt." She famously never wasted time with long goodbyes, often ending phone calls mid-sentence with a quick "OK Bye" and a click-a signature move that nearly kept her husband, Mickey, from calling her back after their very first conversation, though he thankfully changed his mind. She was preceded in death by her parents, Bud and Lucile, and her brother, Homer Carter. Her memory will be cherished by her loving husband and caregiver, Mickey; her sister, Beverly Ann Carter Parker and husband Mike; her sister-in-law, Linda Davidson Carter; her brother-in-law, Frankie Wynn and wife Alita; and her sister-in-law, Jeanette Wynn. She also leaves behind her beloved nieces and nephews, to whom her door was always open: Gina Downs (Ross), Amy Hoover (Roger), Michael Parker (Tracie), Holly Gay (David), Jonathan Parker (Paula), Robby Sanders (Janie), Wendy Langley (Lester), Bryan Carter, Kelly Carter, Lindsay Nijoka (Kyle), Tiffani Donohue, and Sara Parker. She is also survived by numerous grand-nieces and grand- nephews, including her very special great-niece, Lilly, with whom she shared a wonderful bond. When you happen across a daisy, let it be a gentle reminder of Margaret and the memories you shared. In keeping with Margaret's private nature, the family will gather for a small service and interment at a later date.
