RAY AUSTIN YARBROUGH


Funeral services for Mr. Ray Austin Yarbrough, Sr., age 87 of Bastrop, Louisiana are
scheduled for 11:00 a.m. Thursday, October 20, 2016 in the Chapel of Golden Funeral
Home with Rev. Richard Gambill and Rev. Henry Stone officiating. Interment will
follow in Memorial Park Cemetery. Visitation will be from 5:00 p.m until 7:00 p.m.
Wednesday at Golden Funeral Home.

Mr. Yarbrough, a retired businessman and member of the First Baptist Church, passed
away Sunday, October 16, 2016. He was a graduate of Northeast Louisiana College,
served on the Morehouse Parish Police Jury for 20 years which included several terms
as president, served as president of the JTPA, served in the National Guard, and was
a founding board member of the Morehouse Activity Center. He was an avid horseman
and horse breeder. 

Mr. Yarbrough is survived by his wife of 62 years, Mary Sue Yarbrough; sons, Ray
Austin Yarbrough, Jr., Dr. David Arthur Yarbrough and wife Hallie; sister Lanell
Biggs; grandchildren, Anna Claire Yarbrough, William Arthur Yarbrough, and Piper
Celeste Yarbrough. 

He is preceded in death by his parents, Steve Monroe Yarbrough, Jr., and Lillian
Gertrude Travis Yarbrough; siblings, Louise Johnson, Roy Yarbrough and Ralph
Yarbrough.

Mr. Yarbrough was a loving, faithful husband, a great father, and adored his
grandchildren tremendously.

Special thanks to Dr. John Bruchhaus, Dr. James Rittlemeyer, Dr. Daven Spires, the
nursing staff at Saint Francis Medical Center, and his caregivers.

Serving the family as pallbearers will be Dr. Glen Melton, Dr. Steve White, Mr. Elva
Greer, Mr. Larry Tubbs, Mr. Winnon Taylor, Mr. William Yarbrough

Honorary pallbearers are Mr. Charlie Flynn, Mr. Don Bonner, Mr. Horace Cheney, Mr.
Thelbert Bunch, Mr. George Winnon, Mr. Lee Derick, Mr. Willard Taylor
