Johnathan Brooks officiating. Interment will follow at the Bartholomew Cemetery under the direction of Cox Funeral Home. John Calvin Yeldell was born May 30, 1925 in Drew County, Arkansas to the late Thomas A. Yeldell and Mary McCain Yeldell Hales and he died August 26, 2009 in Bastrop, Louisiana. John was a veteran of the U.S. Navy and a retired oiler at International Paper Company. He is preceded in death by his father and mother; his step-father, Sam Monroe Hales; a grandson, Ashley Ausbury Riis; a brother, Thomas Yeldell; and three sisters, Jessie Alsobrooks, Beatrice Pennick, and Stella Surratt. Mr. Yeldell is survived by his wife Cherry Brooks of Bastrop; a daughter, Patti Dugas of West Monroe, Louisiana; step-daughter, Lucretia Jarratt of Bosco, Louisiana; two sisters, Etta Evans of Crossett, Arkansas and Vivian Mann of Bastrop; a special friend and cousin, Ralph McCain; and several nieces and nephews. Serving as pallbearers are David Mann, Terry Sisk, Alvin Hatten, Larry Brooks, Ronnie Evans, and Darrin Shipp. Additional Comments: Born in Drew County, Arkansas on May 30, 1925 Departed on Aug. 26, 2009 and resided in Bastrop, LA.
