Golden Funeral Home - February 2018
JOHNNIE BROWN YOUNG


Funeral services for Mrs. Johnnie Brown Young, age 87, of Benton, LA formerly of
Bastrop, LA, are scheduled for 2 PM Wednesday, February 28, 2018 at Golden
Funeral Home with Rev. David Sistrunk officiating. Interment will follow in
Carter Cemetery under the direction of Golden Funeral Home. Visitation will be
held from 12 Noon until 2 PM service time at Goldens.
Mrs. Young, a retired nurses aid for many years at Morehouse General Hospital,
passed away Friday, February 23, 2018. She loved Billy Graham, gospel music,
cooking, flowers, gardening, and her calico cat Zoolu.  She also had a love for
repairing old sewing machines.
She is survived by her daughter, Linda Brown McLaughlin and husband Samuel of
Benton, LA; sons, T.C. “Charles” Brown of Monroe, LA, Dewey Eugene “Sonny” Brown
of Bastrop, LA, Reggie Dean Brown and wife Cheryl of Collinston, LA;
step-daughter, Gennie Brown Crenshaw and husband Leonard of Collinston, LA;
grandchildren, Tina Aulds Peddy, Charles Shane Brown, Rodney Gene Brown, Michael
Dean Brown, Brittany Kathleen Brown, Cynthia Dawn Hardt, Dustin Eugene Brown; 12
great grandchildren; 2 great great grandchildren; seven step-grandchildren and
several step-great grandchildren.
Mrs. Young is preceded in death by her husbands, Dewey Webster Brown and Carroll
Abner Young; half brother, Eugene Gordon; granddaughter, Melissa Brown Culp;
great granddaughter, Shelby Linn Brown.
Serving as pallbearers will be, Derek Ouelette, Matthew Cook, Shane Brown, Cole
Wallace, Caleb Wallace, Terry Tumerfield and Chip Harris.
