Henry, a prosperous planter of Natchitoches Parish, was born in this parish December 9, 1859, his father being Joseph Henry, who was born in county Londonderry, Ireland, January 24, 1828. Our subject, after attaining his majority, began the world for himself by settling on a plantation of 150 acres, 100 of which were under cultivation, and by his indomitable will is now the possessor of 750 acres, 450 being throughly cultivated and stocked, and in connection with these is the owner of a agin and grist mill plant equipped with all the modern improvements. In 1884 he was married to Emeline Gaennie, a native of Louisiana, and to them have been born five children: Martha C. (deceased}, Mable, Bessie, Cora (deceased), and Joseph H. Socially he affiliates with the K. of P. lodge; officially holds the office of justice of the peace, and is identified with the school board of Ward 4. In religion, he and family are communicants of the Catholic Church, and he is a member of the Farmers' Alliance, being president of Brezeale Union.
