Norred, April 2010 No. 10 John H. Thompson of the Parish of Natchitoches assignee of Mary Meades claims 640 acres of land situated in the late Neutral Territory between the Rio Hondo and the Sabine River and being Section No. 14 in Township No. 8 North of Range No. 9 West lying on the road from Natchitoches to Fort Jessup. This claim is founded on habitation and cultivation on and previous to the 22nd day of February 1819. The evidence of John Lessman and Mary Canal taken on the 22nd day of April 1836 states “that Mary Meades the assignee in this claim occupied, inhabited and cultivated the section No. 17 in the Township and Range above on and before the 22nd day of February 1819. That she settled on the land in question in the year 1815 and continued to reside thereon and cultivate the same every year up to the year 1821. That in 1819 she had a dwelling house on said land and about 5 acres in cultivation. We are of opinion that this claim ought to be confirmed.
