Norred, April 2010 No. 6 Ivana Josefa Ruiz of the Parish of Natchitoches , filed her notice claiming 640 acres of land situated in the late Neutral Territory between the Rio Hondo and Sabine Rivers, being Section No. 8 in Township 11 degrees 8 North of Range No. 9 West. This claim is founded on habitation and cultivation by the claimant on and previous to the 22nd of February 1819, the evidence of Manuel Bustamonte taken the 21st April 1836 states “that the claimant Ivana Josefa Ruiz moved to the land claimed in the year 1814 and resided thereon on the 22nd February 1819 and up to the year 1821 or 1822” that she cultivated the land in question from the time she first moved thereon / 1814 until she left the place 1821 or 1822. He further states that he is about 73 years of age and has resided in the immediate neighborhood 23 years, that the claimant is about 43 years of age. The evidence of John Lum also taken in this claim fully establishes that the land claimed was occupied, inhabited and cultivated by the claimant from the year 1815 until 1821 or 1822. We are of the opinion that this claim ought to be confirmed.
