SIGN OF THE TIMES Information supplied by Natchitoches Genealogical and Historical Association Second Floor Old Courthouse By Shirley Porter April 19, 1918 PRISONERS IN GERMANY DO NOT LOSE RIGHTS TO WAR INSURANCE American soldiers and sailors in German prison camps prior to April 12, 1918, will not be deprived of their rights to war risk insurance because of an inability to make personal applications, provided such application is made in their behalf. According to a statement by the Secretary of the Treasury, applications for insurance may be made in behalf of such prisoners by persons within the permitted class of beneficiaries under the military and naval insurance law. This class includes wife, child, parent, brother or sister. Application should be made to the Bureau of War-Risk Insurance at Washington, D. C.
