Mr. JT Sandlin is repainting and repairing his residence and Mr WD Hagewood, of Bunkie, is preparing to build a nice cottage near RT Enloe's residence. There will be several other houses built during the year. There were quite a number of visitors in town during the Christmas holidays. Among them were Rev. JA Miller and sister of Patterson; WO Averette and wife of Winnfield; Earl and Rufus Averette, of Big Sandy, Texas and Mrs RL Stewart, of Vernon, Texas. Miss Maud Husband is visiting her mother this week. WP Phillips and Ira O'Quin, after spending the holidays with friends and relatives, have returned to their work. Miss Kate Averette is visiting her sister Mrs WA Stamper this week. CJ O'Quinn and family spend Sunday at Derry. The East Natchitoches string band serenaded Saturday night. The music was a sweet and enjoyed by all. There are two things our citizens should do. First, help vote the railroad tax. Second, do every thing possible to elect our neighbor for district judge. Let's all work for him. "Every little bit helps." A Friend ============================================================================ EAST NATCHITOCHES NOTES - DECEMBER 3, 1909 Natchitoches Times Quite unique entertainment was given last Friday evening at the residence of RT Enloe at which a large crowd was entertained at "Aunt Dina's Quilting Party." each person had an individual quilt to piece for 30 minutes or more and the gay colors and arrangement made a pretty collection of miniature quilts. Prizes were won for the girls by Miss Nettie Bird and for the boys by Mr. Harry Kranson. It was a close contest between the girls, but for the boys the booby was certainly won by Mr. Edward Metoyer. Following this was a neatly arranged play entitled "The Rival Brothers," illustrated in tableaux and many compliments were passed on the handsome "solider brother" who surrendered so nobly to his younger brother who was a jealous suitor of the girl they both loved. Refreshments were immediately served after the tableaux which gave us an hour or more to enjoy the music and swing our best fellow in the merry old games we used to play at school. Her's to the merry crowd who are always young. Just give us a chance for this holiday fun. "Youngster."
