S. C., died at 1:30 a.m. Sunday, December 22, 1968 near Campti on Highway 486 from injuries received in an auto crash. Also killed in the accident was Varnell Procell, 17, of Natchitoches. Five other persons were injured. Miss Mercer is a native of Winnfield and a member of the Baptist Church. Funeral services were conducted at 1 p.m. Monday in First Baptist Church in Natchitoches with Rev. James Carter officiating. Interment was in Garden of Memories Cemetery in Winnfield under the direction of Hixson Brothers Funeral Home of Winnfield. She is survived by her parents, Mr. and Mrs. Felix Mercer of Natchitoches, one brother, James Mercer, one sister, Betty Jean Mercer, both of Natchitoches; paternal grandmother, Mrs. D. C. Warner, of Winnfield; and maternal grandparents, Mr. and Mrs. N. F. Taylor of Columbia.
