Final Rites For Mrs. Maud Bevill Friday, 10 O'clock

Funeral services for Mrs. Maud Allen Bevill who died at 1 a.m. Thursday, April
20, 1950, at a local hospital, will be held at Hixson Funeral Home Friday
morning at 10 o'clock.  The Rev. Alwin Stokes, Rev. Fred Flurry, and
Rev. H. H. McBride will conduct the final rites, and burial will be in
the Winnfield Cemetery under direction of Hixson.

Active pallbearers will be Jesse Corley, Houston Gates, Lee Grigsby, Albert
Smith, W. E. LaCroix, Reggie Gates, and Melton Hightower.

Born in Natchitoches Parish, the daughter of the late Mr. and Mrs. Jim Allen,
Mrs. Bevill was reared on a plantation in that parish.  She was married to
Rardon D. Bevill, Sr., a member of the oldest and most prominent pioneer
families of Winn Parish, and they made their home on Cane River for some time.
In 1906 they moved to Winnfield to the site of the present Bevill home on Main
Street, where they reared their family.  Mrs. Bevill devoted her entire life
to her family and home, and enjoyed good health until just a few weeks prior
to her passing.  Mr. Bevill, who was engaged in the oil business, preceded her
in death, having succumbed in 1937.

Surviving are two daughters and four sons, Mrs. Philip Lohman, Miss Mae
Bevill, and R. D. Bevill, Jr., Winnfield; Jared S. Bevill, Kilgore, Texas; Bob
Bevill, Denver City, Texas; Joe Bevill, Ruston; two sisters, Mrs. Blanche
Monrose and Miss Julia Allen of New Orleans; and two grandchildren, R. D.
Bevill, III, of Winnfield, and Jared Bevill, of Kilgore.
