Carpenter, 78, of Natchitoches, died Saturday, March 10, at a nursing home. Survivors include eight sons, Ray Carpenter, and James Carpenter, both of Natchitoches, J. D. Carpenter of Ft. Worth, Tex., Marion Carpenter of Leesville, Murrell Carpenter of Hobbs, N. M., Doyle Carpenter of Hornbeck, Mack Carpenter of Pretoria, South Africa, and Henry Carpenter of Plaquemine, La.; one daughter, Mrs. Dorothy Bynog of Natchitoches; one brother, John Watley of Hagwood; two sister, Mrs. Effie Boykin of Slidell, and Mrs. Dora Treadway of Provencal; 35 grandchildren, and 24 great grandchildren. Funeral services were held at 3 p.m., Monday, March 12, at the United Pentecostal Church in Natchitoches, with the Rev. Ronald Nations officiating. Burial was in the Oak Grove cemetery in Natchitoches, under the direction of First National Funeral Home.
