J. W. LEE The Natchitoches Times January 21, 1965 Rev. J. W. Lee, Retired Minister Dies in Sleep At His Home Here Funeral services for the Rev. John Wesley Lee, 79, were held Tuesday at 10 am in College Avenue Methodist Church, with the Rev. Dell Durand officiating, assisted by Dr. Jolly B. Harper, pastor of First Methodist Church, and the Rev. Jimmy Bolton. Interment was in Welcome Home Cemetery at Grayson, where graveside services were conducted at 2 pm Reverend Lee died in his sleep Sunday, Jan. 17 at his home on Robeline Road. He was a retired minister and served for 52 years in Methodist Churches throughout the state. He was past president of the Louisiana Conference of Methodist Churches. Reverend Lee is survived by his widow, Mrs. Orpha Calk Lee; seven daughters, Mrs. Clyde Waters of Natchitoches, Mrs. Richard Cosenca of Alexandria, Mrs. B. L. Fisher of Columbia, Mrs. Edna Hill of Liberty, Tex., Mrs Dwight Hearne of Baton Roughe, Mrs. Georgia Gillespie of Kingsport Tenn., and Mrs. Jerry McCrary of Shreveport; 11 sons, Tommy, Lynn, and David Lee all of Natchitoches, Charles Lee, US Navy, Charleston S.C., Richard Lee, U. S. Arie Force, Marquette Mich., Billy Lee of Atlanta, Gal, Norman Lee of Lake Charles, Clarence Lee of Liberty, Tex., Johnny and Wilson Lee, both of Beaumont, Tex., and Dallas Calk of Shreveport; one sister, Mrs. Ann Storie of Battle Creek Mich.; 34 grandchildren and 23 great grandchildren. Active pallbearers were Louis R. Bryant, H. E. Corley, Woodrow Whitford, J. C. McCorey, T. J. McBride, and J. W. Davis. Honorary pallbearers were the Reverends W. E. Anding, James W. Jones, Jimmy Pyles, Oliver S. Roberts, Henry Isgitt, and Mrs. Lula Wardlow, and Willie Beedlove.
