Alexandria Town Talk, April 2, 1998 MELROSE -- Services for Vilfried "Totsie" Metoyer Sr. were at 11 a.m. Monday, March 23, 1998, in St. Augustine Catholic Church with the Rev. Victor Vead officiating. Burial was in the church cemetery under direction of Winnfield, Natchitoches. Metoyer, 66, of Melrose died Friday, March 20, 1998, in St. Frances Cabrini Hospital, Alexandria. He was a school bus driver with the Natchitoches Parish School board for 42 years, a Civil Defense Deputy with the Natchitoches Parish Sheriff's Office and worked with Red River Butane for a number of years. He was an active member of St. Augustine Catholic Church where he served as an Eucharist Minister. He was vice-president of the Holy Name Society, member of the Knights of Peter Claver and member of the Cursillo. Survivors include his wife, Lizzie Mae Llorence Metoyer of Melrose; five sons , Vilfried Metoyer Jr., Martin Metoyer and Archie Metoyer, all of Natchitoches, Emile Metoyer of Bermuda, and Don Metoyer of Derry; three daughters, Jacqueline Metoyer of Melrose, Marci Morgan of Oak Park, Ill., and Laurie Metoyer of Baton Rouge; three brothers, Ewing Metoyer of Chicago, Ill ., Marcus Metoyer of Lansing, Mich., and John Metoyer of Natchitoches; two sisters, Amanda Lacour and Emma Kajvak, both of Chicago, Ill.; and 18 grandchildren.
