All rights reserved. http://usgwarchives.net/copyright.htm http://usgwarchives.net/la/lafiles.htm ********************************************** Mr. William Edward Moore Mr. William Edward "Ed" Moore, 95, of Marthaville died Wednesday, Oct. 20, 1999 at Summitt Hospital in Bossier City. Funeral services were held at at Blanchard St. Denis Chapel in Natchitoches Friday, Oct. 22 with interment following at Central Cemetery in Robeline. The Rev. Wallace Byrd officiated. Mr. Moore was a native and lifelong resident of Marthaville. He was a 1928 graduate of Marthaville High School and was proud that all vie of his children graduated from his alma mater. In 1934 he became the owner and operator of Moore's Gulf Station in Marthaville. When he retired in 1991, he received an award for 57 years of service. He was also a cattleman, farmer and a timberman. He drove a Natchitoches Parish school bus for a number of years. He was a member of the Ajax Masonic Lodge F&AM where he was past worshipful master and the Natchitoches Chapter no. 13 order of the Eastern Star. Mr. Moore was an avid hunter and fisherman who enjoyed the piney and hardwood forest of Natchitoches Parish. Above all else, Mr. Moore was a wonderful husband and father. Mr. Moore was a devoted husband and father who led a good life and leaves behind the legacy of his years well spent. Survivors include his widow of 61 years, Opal Cassady Moore; his sons and daughters and their spouses, David Ann Anna Moore, of Keithville, Keith and Linda Moore of Shreveport, Sharon McCaskill of Bossier, Kathy and Mike Mawhinney of Shreveport, and Beth and Joe Rains of Baton Rouge; one brother, Don Moore of Phoenix, Ariz; three sisters, Ethel Wyatt of Belmont, Clarice Rains Procell of Haughton, Vera McGee of Marthaville and Daisy Hillard of Tuscon Ariz.; seven grandchildren, Darryl Rains, Karen McCaskill Ware, Stacy Rains Byrd, Susan Rains Perkins, Melonee McCaskill, Christa Moore, and Mac Moore; nine great-grandchildren, Janet and Corie Abadie, Sarah Rains, Mackenzie and Kameryn Byrd, Garrett Perkins and Nathan, Luke and Andrew Ware. Pallbearers were Joyce Berry, Ted Singletary, Arden Settle, Jr. Ed Durham, Donnie Wyatt, Ray Singletary, Jack Jenkins, and Frank Wyatt. Honorary pallbearers were Sonny Miller, Leon Hicks, Wayne Parker, Claude Remedies, Albert Jenkins, Jackie Ross, and Gordon More. Memorials may be made to St Jude's Children Hospital in Memphis, Tenn.
