Matthews was given a blood transfusion Saturday night but hospital attendants said he did not rally after being admitted at 3:20 p.m. Saturday. He was shot in the left side of the chest at close range with an automatic shotgun when he stumbled and fell. he was carrying the loaded gun in a timbered area just off the Greenwood road near the Shreveport city limits. Funeral services were held at at Blanchard St. Denis Chapel in Natchitoches Friday, Oct. 22 with interment following at Central Cemetery in Robeline. The Rev. Wallace Byrd officiated. Mr. Moore was a native and lifelong resident of Marthaville. He was a 1928 graduate of Marthaville High School and was proud that all vie of his children graduated from his alma mater. In 1934 he became the owner and operator of Moore's Gulf Station in Marthaville. When he retired in 1991, he received an award for 57 years of service. He was also a cattleman, farmer and a timberman. He drove a Natchitoches Parish school bus for a number of years. He was a member of the Ajax Masonic Lodge F&AM where he was past worshipful master and the Natchitoches Chapter no. 13 order of the Eastern Star. Mr. Moore was an avid hunter and fisherman who enjoyed the piney and hardwood forest of Natchitoches Parish. Above all else, Mr. Moore was a wonderful husband and father. Mr. Moore was a devoted husband and father who led a good life and leaves behind the legacy of his years well spent. Ponder 2 Jun 1933 - Death called Silas D. Ponder at 5:30 p.m. Tuesday, he having been ill for several months. Funeral services were conducted at the Many Baptist church by the pastor, Rev. J. M. Pate, with interment in Ft. Jesup cemetery Wednesday afternoon. Attorney Ponder was born on a farm six miles east of Robeline, Natchitoches parish, January 15, 1860, being a son of the late William A. Ponder. Boyhood days for Silas D. were spent on the farm; he was educated at the University of the South at Swane, Tenn., and subsequently graduated at law from Tulane University and began the practice of his profession at Natchitoches. On account of a severe attack of fever he removed to Texas, in 1886, where he lived for fifteen years, and while a citizen of that state he filled several important positions of trust among them being prosecuting attorney of Denton county. In 1901 he moved back to the beloved state of his nativity, located at Many, and for several years was associated with his brother, Amos L. Ponder. At the time of his demise he was a partner with his son, William H., of the law firm of Ponder and Ponder. He was a member of the Louisiana Constitutional Conventions of 1913 and again in 1921, was elected mayor of Many without opposition. Deceased was a successful lawyer, a genial gentleman and a good and progressive citizen. For many years Mr. Ponder has been prominent in banking circles, being vice-president of Sabine State Bank & Trust company. Mr. Stille was the youngest and last living member of the pioneer family of Joseph D. Stille of Many. In 1901 the firm of Stille & Yarbrough was organized, of which Mr. Stille was president until his death. Mrs. Weidenheimer died of cancer, and was under the care of her physician, Dr. Lynn L. Bateman. She resided with her husband, Norman William Weidenheimer, at 2719 North Arapachoe Lane, Provo, Utah. Mrs. Weidenheimer was born December 26, 1903, in Shamrock, Natchitoches Parish, Louisiana, a daughter of Thomas Jefferson Lester and Marguerite Ella Clark. She was married in the Mesa Arizona Temple to Norman William Weidenheimer on the 21st of June, 1940. They came to Utah in November of 1968. Mrs. Weidenheimer graduated from grade school in May of 1922, and went on to complete one quarter of college work at the Louisiana State Normal College. She took the State Teachers Examination and earned the First Grade Certificate. From 1922-23 she taught 6th, 7th, and 8th grades as principal of school. She also taught in a five teacher school 1923-24. She worked 15 years in California as a payroll clerk, cost clerk, and timekeeper. She attended business college in 1930. She and her husband were sealed in the Arizona Temple along with their lovely children, Quanita, Lew, and Joyce, with Rose Sharon later being born under the covenant. Her church service included Mutual Improvement Association, both Ward and Stake, Ward Primary, Sunday School, Genelogy Instructor, and Records Examiner, Lessons in Relief Society, and several years as visiting teacher. She is survived by her husband, three daughters, and one son; Mrs. Waunita Ione Weidenheimer Clark, Monterey, Calif.; Mr. Lew Norman Weidenheimer. Bothell, Wash.; Mrs. Joyce Gwenette Weidenheimer Stale, Salinas Calif., and Mrs. Rose Sharon Weidenheimer Deem, Provo, Utah. She is survived by seven grandchildren, and four great-grandchildren. Wyatt Mrs. Hettie Lee Wyatt, 78, of Marthaville, died Friday, July 23, in Shreveport, after a long illness. Funeral services were held at 3 p.m., Sunday, July 25, in the Old Pisgah Baptist Church, with the Rev. Willis Greer officiating. Interment was in the Old Pisgah Cemetery, directed by the Warren Meadows Funeral Home. Survivors include four sons, Hamp Mars, and T. J. Wyatt, both of Shreveport, Claude Wyatt and J. A. Wyatt, both of Memphis, Tenn., four daughters, Aline Wyatt of Marthaville, Mrs. J. H. Pollard, Mrs. Evelyn Fontenot, and Mrs. Alma Jean Sandifer, all of Shreveport, 23 grandchildren, and 24 great-grandchildren. -------------------------------------------------------
