Services for Samuel Daulton Wilson Jr., 54, of Natchitoches were held Tuesday, August 28, 2001 at 2 p.m. at First United Methodist Church with the Revs. Donald Davis, James Poole and Ellis Newman officiating. Interment followed in Memory Lawn Cemetery under the direction of Blanchard-St. Denis Funeral Home. Mr. Wilson died Saturday, August 25, 2001 in Willis Knighton Pierremont in Shreveport after a brief illness. He was employed by the Natchitoches Parish School Board as a teacher and coach at Cloutierville Elementary/Jr. High School for the past seven years. Mr. Wilson was awarded Cloutierville Teacher of the Year for 2000-2001. He graduated from La. Tech University in 1968. He was a member of College Avenue Methodist Church and a former member of Sharon Baptist Church in Sharon. He is survived by his wife, Cecilia Graham Wilson of Natchitoches; one son and daughter-in-law, Nathan J. and Joanna Wilson of Farmerville; one daughter and son-in-law, Michelle and Ricky Bergeron of Ruston, one step-son, Trey Lucky of Natchitoches; one step-daughter, Lise Margaret Lucky of Natchitoches; four grandchildren, Justin, Hunter and Kirstyn Wilson and Ricky Bergeron; three sisters, Doyce Houck of Ruston, Christine Lazenby of West Monroe and Geraldine Rupert of Bernice; and one brother, Steven V. Wilson of Homer. Pallbearers were Dicky Roach, John Revels, Wayne Houck, Jerry Lazenby, Donald Farley and Lonnie Farley. Honorary pallbearers were Edward Graham, Stewart Graham, David Graham, Roy Graham, Roy Bailey, Mike Dawson, Harvey Polk and Paul Shows. DOROTHY MAY BARNETT Former Natchitoches resident Dorothy May Barnett, 82, passed away Sunday, August 26, 2001 in her nursing home residence in Loveland Colo. Cremation services have been conducted and inurnment of cremains will take place at a later date in Shreveport. Ms. Barnett was born to William Alva Barnett and Zula Zee Ola Sanders Barnett on October 25, 1918 in Clarksville, Texas. A member of First Baptist Church of Natchitoches, the Natchitoches Garden Club and Delta Kappa Gamma. Ms. Barnett moved to Loveland, Colo., from Natchitoches in February 1991. She received her bachelor's degree in French and education from Louisiana College in Pineville and her master's degree from Peabody College in Nashville, Tenn. She taught in elementary education for 34 years. Ms. Barnett was preceded in death by her parents and a brother, Marion Barnett. Survivors include a brother, James Alva Barnett, and his wife, Corky, of Estes Park, Colo.; a niece, Linda Walker, and her husband, Don, of Loveland; and a nephew, Rodney Barnett, of LaGrange, Texas. August 25-26, 2001 issue JOHN MAKAR Services for John Makar, 89, of Natchitoches were held at 2 p.m. Monday, August 20, 2001 in the Church of the Immaculate Conception with Fr. Stephen Scott Chemino officiating. Burial was in Memory Lawn Cemetery under the direction of Blanchard-St. Denis Funeral Home. Mr. Makar died Saturday, August 18, 2001 in his residence. He was born in Smoke Run, Pa., and was a native of Detroit, Mich. He was a retired attorney, a member of Immaculate Conception Catholic Church, the Natchitoches Kiwanis Club and was past president of the International Brotherhood of Magicians. He was a veteran of World War II serving in the U. S. Army and was an honorary Kentucky Colonel. He was preceded in death by his first wife, Ruth Hatfield Makar, and a son, Charles Stroud Makar. Survivors include his second wife, Nobie S. Makar of Natchitoches; three daughters, Jayme Makar Ponder and her husband, Harley, of Burton, Texas, Nancy Ann Makar of Springhill, Fla. And Mary G. Thompson and her husband, Patrick, of North Little Rock, Ark.; 10 grandchildren, Richard Ponder and his wife, Becky, James Ponder and his wife, Jill, Michael Ponder and his wife, Angel, Randall Lee Sewell and his wife, Kelly, Kendall Lynne Sewell Duncan and her husband, Jay, Megan Ruth Makar, Michael John Makar, Kenneth Wayne Thompson, Tina Diane Thompson and Denise Marie Thompson; and six great-grandchildren, including Dylan Blake Sewell. BEN ANN (MOONIE) RACHAL Funeral services for Mrs. Ben Ann (Moonie) Rachal, held at 2 p.m. Saturday, August 25, 2001 at the Winnfield Funeral Home chapel. Remains will lie in state Friday from 6-10 p.m. at the funeral home. Burial will be in the St. John the Baptist Catholic Church Cemetery in Cloutierville. Mrs. Rachal, a resident of Savannah, Ga., for the past 13 years, passed away Sunday, August 19, 2001, at St. Joseph's Hospital in Savannah. She was a graduate of Campti High School and received a bachelor of science degree in business administration from the University of California-Berkley. She was a retiree of Aetna U. S. Healthcare Insurance Co. She was preceded in death by her husband, Frank Rachal. Survivors include one daughter, Kimberly Rachal-Gatlin of Savannah; one son, Tyrone Rachal of Brooklyn, N. Y.; mother, Rosa Mae Telsee and two sisters, Eura L. Williams and Edith Farley, all of Campti; and three brothers, Johnny Telsee of Shreveport and Cleveland Telsee and Sam Jones Telsee, both of Campti. August 16, 2001 issue MRS. ROSEMARY LANGLEY-MCCOY Funeral services for Mrs. Rosemary Langley-McCoy, 43, of Elon, N. C., will be held at 6 p.m. Thursday, August 16, 2001 at St. Mark's Reformed Church with the Revs. Robert M. "Bob" Disher, pastor of St. Mark's, and Ben Bishop, pastor of Outreach and Visitation at St. Mark's, officiating. Mrs. Langley-McCoy died Wednesday, August 15, 2001, in her home. Mrs. Langley-McCoy was born in Siler City, N. C., and was a member of St. Mark's. She was preceded in death her father, Kenneth Franklin Langley Sr. Survivors include her husband, Roger Lane McCoy, and one daughter, Raleigh Langley McCoy, both of Elon; her mother, Wynona Womack Langley, and one brother Kenneth Franklin Langley Jr., both of Liberty, N. LENORA "LULA" DOWDEN Services for Mrs. Lenora "Lula" Dowden, 85, of Natchitoches, will be held Thursday, August 9, 2001 in the chapel of Blanchard-St. Denis Funeral Home in Natchitoches with the Rev. Stephen Scott Chemino and the Rev. Bob Braly officiating. Burial will be in Fern Park Cemetery. Mrs. Dowden died Monday, August 6, 2001 in Natchitoches Parish Hospital. Mrs. Dowden was a native of Natchitoches. She was retired co-owner and operator of Dowden Grocery Store. She was a member of Immaculate Conception Church and a supporter of St. Mary's School in Natchitoches. Survivors include her husband, Oscar Dowden of Natchitoches; two sons, James "Jim" Dowden Sr. of Harvey and Ronnie Dowden of Natchitoches; two sisters, Josephine Hayes of Baton Rouge and Mary Little of Campti; one brother, Edward Greco of Shreveport; four grandchildren, Crystal Magness and Michael Dowden of Natchitoches and James Dowden Jr. and John Dowden of Harvey; two great grandchildren, Ethan Magness and Cade Magness of Natchitoches. Pallbearers will be James Dowden Jr., John Dowden, Michael Dowden, David Mathies, Eric Magness and Richard Rodgers. Visitation will be Wednesday from 5-9 p.m. and on Thursday from 8 a.m. until service time at the funeral home.
