Funeral services for Dr. Burton Roy Buckley, 68, of Natchitoches were held at 10 a.m. Tuesday, February 27, 2001 in the chapel of Blanchard-St. Denis Funeral Home in Natchitoches with Dr. Scott Shaver officiating. Burial was in Memory Lawn Cemetery in Natchitoches. Dr. Buckley died Saturday, February 24, 2001 in LSU Medical Center in Shreveport. Dr. Buckley was a native of Natchitoches. He was born April 26, 1932. He graduated from Natchitoches High School. He attended Texas A&M and received his bachelor of science from Northwestern State College in biological sciences. He received his Ph.D. in entomology from Kansas State University. Dr. Buckley was a retired member of the Northwestern State University faculty. He had established and operated the farm consulting firm of Pest Technology Inc., from which he had recently retired. He was preceded in death by his eldest son, David Randall Buckley, and his youngest son, Terrell Lea Buckley; his parents, Joseph Russell Buckley and Dessie Edwards Buckley; and a brother, Marvin D. Buckley. Survivors include one son, Kenneth Roy Buckley of Natchitoches; two grandchildren, Kelly Ann Buckley of Jacksonville, N. C., and Terryl Lee Buckley of Shreveport; two brothers, Joseph Richard Buckley of Mims, Texas, and James E. Buckley of Natchitoches; and three sisters, Mary Beth Greeson and Carolyn Aldredge of Natchitoches and Janet Radasinovich of Durant, Okla. Pallbearers were Corwyn Aldredge Jr., Jason Aldredge, Trevor Aldredge, Eddy Buckley, Russell Moreland and Patrick Churchman. February 28, 2001 issue HENRY EARL WOMACK Funeral services for Henry Earl Womack, 96, of Campti will be held Wednesday, February 28, 2001 at 2 p.m. in the chapel of Rose Neath Funeral Home in Coushatta. Burial will be in Bethel Cemetery in the Womack community. Mr. Womack died Sunday, February 25, 2001, at Christus Coushatta Health Care. Born in Castor, Mr. Womack was a retired restaurant owner. Survivors are his wife, Bessie Womack; son, Kenneth Womack of Campti; brother, Richard Elmo Womack Jr. of Farmerville; three grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; and one great-great-grandchild. Visitation will be Tuesday, February 27 from 5-9 p.m. at Rose Neath in Coushatta. EMILY C. NEITTE Services for Emily C. Neitte, 82, of Natchitoches will be held at noon Thursday, March 1, 2001 in the chapel of Blanchard-St. Denis Funeral Home with Fr. Dan O'Connor officiating. Burial will be in Fern Park Cemetery. Mrs. Neitte died Tuesday, February 27, 2001 in Natchitoches Parish Hospital. She was a native of Shamrock, a homemaker and a member of the Church of the Immaculate Conception. She was preceded in death by her husband, Earl E. Neitte. Survivors include three daughters, Marie LaCaze and husband Clyde of Natchitoches, Doris Pailet and husband Doug of Winnfield and Geraldine Bennett of Natchitoches; one brother, Otha Stevenson of Calvin; five grandchildren, Kilita Jones, Regina Robertson, Shannon Lowery, Jack D. Nobles and Jessica Nobles; and three great grandchildren. Pallbearers will be Ricky LaCaze, Archel Williams Jr., Russell Williams, Leon Williams, William Lowery and Clyde Clark. Visitation will be Wednesday, February 28 from 5-10 p.m. with a rosary at 7:30 p.m. and on Thursday, March 1 from 8 to service time at the funeral home. February 24-25, 2001 issue CLARISSE WEAVER BRANTLEY Services for Clarisse Weaver Brantley, 85, of Natchitoches will be held at 1 p.m. Saturday, February 24, 2001 in the chapel of Blanchard-St. Denis Funeral Home with the Rev. Billy Shugart officiating. Burial will follow in Oak Grove Cemetery in Ashland. Mrs. Brantley died Thursday, February 22, 2001 at Houston Northwest Medical Center in Houston. Mrs. Brantley was a native of Creston. She was a homemaker and a member of Emmanuel Baptist Church in Natchitoches. She was preceded in death by her husband of 50 years, R. M. Brantley. Survivors include three daughters, Jackie Veach of Houston, Sandra Hespe of Yorktown, Va., and Reba Strickland of The Woodlands, Texas; one sister, Carrie Milton of Walker; six grandchildren, Dana Wright of Shreveport, Jason Veach of Houston, Jennifer Hespe and David Hespe of Yorktown, and Kyle Strickland and Bridgett Strickland of The Woodlands; two great grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews. Visitation will be from 8 a.m. until service time at the funeral home. CAPT. JOHN M. CUCKA Capt. John M. Cucka, retired/USMC, died Thursday, January 18, 2001 at his home in Natchitoches. He was born in Cleveland, Ohio January 11, 1929, the son of Michael and Elizabeth Cucka (Galayda) Connelly. John was raised in Chicago and attended St. William School, graduating in 1943. He attended Steinmetz High School until enlisting in the Navy in 1944. He served in the Far East aboard the minesweeper, USS Mainstay, until the war ended in 1945. John re-enlisted and was stationed in Corpus Christi, Texas. During the Korean War he was assigned to the patrol frigate, USS Evansville. After the Inchon landing he was accepted for flight school. Upon completion of his training, he took a commission in the U. S. Marine Corps. His first duty assignment was with VMA-211 flying AD Skyraiders from the deck of the carrier USS Wright. During his military career he had 304 carrier landings. While in the Marine Corps, he flew every type of aircraft and helicopters and was type-rated in the DC-3. He was instrument qualified in both fixed-wing and rotary wing aircraft. He retired from the Marine Corps at the Marine Corps Air Station, New River, N. C. in 1967. Upon his retirement from service, he earned his BS and MBA from the University of North Carolina and did graduate work at Mississippi State University. In 1974 he took a position as professor of accounting at Northwestern State University in Natchitoches. In addition to teaching, he operated a small accounting and CPA firm. After 20 years of teaching he fully retired. He spent a great portion of his time visiting family, gardening and attending military reunions. John is survived by his sisters Dorothy (Art) Burton of Fort Worth, Texas and Alice J. Hessenauer of Janesville, Wis.; his brother, Michael J. Cucka of Darien, Ill.; and nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his parents; his step-father, Francis C. Connelly; a sister, Mary Ann Howe; and his brother-in-law Wayne Hessenauer. A memorial mass was held on Monday, January 29, 2001 at 10 a.m. at St. Mary Catholic Church with Msgr. Raymond Kertz officiating. Interment was in Mt. Olivet Mausoleum under the direction of Hansen Funeral Home. Throughout his life, John exemplified the values of the Marine Corps: Honor, Courage, Commitment. We will miss his free spirit and sense of humor. Burial will be in Weaver Cemetery in Chestnut. Mrs. Friday died Tuesday, February 20, 2001 at Christus Coushatta Health Care. Survivors are her daughter, Reba Friday Crowder of Campti; granddaughter, Reba Delores Cryer of Shreveport; grandson, Cecil M. Crowder Jr. of Campti; great-grandchildren, Kin Fulton, Eric Crowder, Jim Guin, Joseph Tayler Guin; and two great-great-grandchildren. February 20, 2001 issue IRVING ADDINGTON Funeral services for Irving Addington, 92, of Clarence were held Tuesday, February 20, 2001 at 10 a.m. in the chapel of Blanchard-St. Denis Funeral Home with the Rev. Mack Brunson and Dr. Floyd Davis officiating. Interment was in New Salem Cemetery in Crews. Mr. Addington passed away Saturday, February 17, 2001 in Houston, Texas. He is survived by his wife of 69 years, Agnes Smitherman Addington of Clarence; four daughter, Rowena Brown of Bossier City, Clara Compton of Houston, Texas, Cynthia Hackworth and husband Dean of Shreveport and Jerrye Clancy and husband Kelley of Shreveport; two brothers, Clyde Addington of Renton, Wa., and Jimmy Addington of Bixbey, Okla.; 11 grandchildren; 12 great-grandchildren; and five great-great-grandchildren. He was a native of Crews and a retired farmer. Mr. Addington was a charter member and a deacon of Clarence Baptist Church. Pallbearers were Bobby Morvan, Ron Shepard, Robert Chelette, Johnny Chelette, Eric Morvan and J. D. Skains. LILLIAN O. LANE CLEVENGER Funeral services for Lillian O. Lane Clevenger, 92, of Anderson, Ind., will be held Wednesday, February 21, 2001 at 1 p.m. at Robert D. Loose Funeral Home South Chapel with the Rev. Taylor Burton-Edwards officiating. Burial will follow in K of P IOOF Cemetery in Frankton, Ind. Mrs. Clevenger died Saturday, February 17, 2001 in Rolling Hills Rehabilitation Inc. in Anderson, Ind., after an extended illness. She was born in Clinton County, Ind., on October 2, 1908. She has lived in the Anderson area since 1928. She was a homemaker and farmer's wife who helped run the family farm. She was a member of First United Methodist Church in Anderson, was a member of the Order of the Easter Star #154 and a charter 50 year member of the Purdue Echo Club and President and member of Altrusa. She was a member of the Bethany Brotherhood and Lafayette Township Farm Bureau. She graduated from Boxley High School and attended Anderson College. Survivors include one son, Keith, and wife, Pat Clevenger of Alexandria, Ind.; two daughters, Janice and husband William Jackson of Columbus, Ind., and Dr. Karen Townsend of Natchitoches; nine grandchildren, Redia Beth Carroll, Bryon Clevenger, Brent Clevenger, Debbie Jackson, Mark Jackson, Greg Jackson, Kim Bonnell, Michelle Townsend and Chris Townsend. She was preceded in death by her husband, Lester Clevenger, who was a former principal of North Anderson Elementary School. She married him on November 25, 1928 and he died in 1977. Also preceded Mrs. Clevenger in death were her parents, Claude and Sarah Ella Lane; three brother, Wesley Lane, Ralph Lane and Walter Lane and two sisters, Maxine King and Nora Carlisle.
