Katherine is survived by her sister, Madison Fair Milligan of Shreveport; maternal grandparents, Robert and Jacque Crew of Natchitoches; maternal great-grandparents, Jack and Margie McLamore of Natchitoches; Buddy and Doris Miller of Shreveport; paternal grandparents, Dr. Edward and Laura K. SIBBIE PINE Graveside services for Sibbie Pine, 87, of Coldwater, will be held Friday, March 30, 2001 at 2 p.m. in the Coldwater Cemetery under the direction of Blanchard-St. Denis Funeral Home. Bro. Charlie Bates will officiate. Mrs. Pine passed away Tuesday, March 27, 2001 in Houston after a lengthy illness. Mrs. Pine is survived by a daughter, Connie Pine of Houston; a daughter-in-law, Martha Pine of Natchitoches; three sisters, Edith Gunter of Henderson, Texas, Laura Carter of Oak Grove and Sarah Carroll of Albuquerque, N. M.; two grandchildren, Mary Ellen Welch of Greenville, Texas, David Clint Pine of Dallas; three great-grandchildren, Megann, Anna and Michael Welch, all of Greenville, Texas. She was preceded in death by her husband, Archie Pine, and her son, Clint Pine. Mrs. Pine was a native of Dodson and was a former resident of Coldwater for 50 years. She lived in Houston for six years. She was a former member of the Coldwater Baptist Church. March 27, 2001 WOODROW HUGHES Services for Woodrow Hughes, 85, of Natchitoches were held at 1 p.m. Tuesday, March 27, 2001 in First Baptist Church with the Rev. Lee Dickson officiating. Burial was in Memory Lawn Cemetery under the direction of Blanchard-St. Denis Funeral Home. Mr. Hughes died Sunday, March 25, 2001, in Heritage Manor Nursing Home. He was a native of Red River Parish, a retired salesman and businessman, a member of First Baptist Church, and was a Sunday school teacher for many years. He was also a member of Phoenix Masonic Lodge #38 F & AM and was a former Louisiana State Trooper. He was preceded in death by his wife of 59 years, Ruby Van Cleave Hughes and one grandson, Cary Wendell Hughes. Survivors include three sons, Charles W. Hughes of Shreveport, Bob Hughes of Baker and Jerry Hughes of Natchitoches; one sister, Katye Dement of Natchitoches; four grandchildren, Hunter Hughes of Merrietta, Ga., Hayes Hughes of Mandeville, Holly Longlois of New Orleans and Andrea Hubner of Milwaukee, Wis.; and eight great grandchildren. Pallbearers were Hunter Hughes, Hayes Hughes, L. D. Hughes, John Richardson, Gerald Cobb and Michael Whitford. KERRY EUGENE CEDARS Funeral services for Kerry Eugene Cedars, 78, of Natchitoches will be held Tuesday, March 27, 2001 at 3 p.m. in the chapel of Blanchard-St. Denis Funeral Home with the Rev. Edward Basco officiating. Interment will be in Fern Park Cemetery in Natchitoches. Mr. Cedars passed away Sunday, March 25, 2001 in Natchitoches Parish Hospital. Mr. Cedars is survived by four daughters, Shelby Diane Cedars McManus, Ginger Cedars and Zina Cedars Sebastian, all of Natchitoches; two sisters, Mrs. Katherine Cedars Thompson of Winnfield and Mrs. Florin Cedars Boycott of Natchitoches; one brother, Raymond Cedars of Natchitoches; seven grandchildren; and one great grandchild. He is preceded in death by his wife, Essie Edwards Cedars; his parents Edward and Lodie Cedars; and his brothers, Dudley Cedars, Rufus Cedars, Eddie Cedars and Wilson Cedars. Mr. Cedars was a native of Gorum and a resident of Natchitoches. He was retired as head mechanic for the Natchitoches Coca-Cola Co. with 40 years of service and was a WWII Army Veteran. Pallbearers will be Douglas Thompson, Stacy Cedars, James Ray Edwards, Robert Cundiff, Kerry Gene Cedars and Travis Cedars. Honorary pallbearer is Robby Cundiff. March 24-25, 2001 issue GRANT F. KENNER Grant F. Kenner, 81, of Canton, Mo., died Wednesday, March 7, 2001 at his home in Canton. He was born December 4, 1919 in Salt Lake City. He married Regan Kislingbury in London, England on July 25, 1945. Mr. Kenner was a World War II veteran, serving overseas for 3 1/2 years. He is a former resident of Natchitoches and a former faculty member in the art department at Northwestern State University. He was a professor of art at Culver-Stockton College from 1968 to 1988. Since then, he has been artist-in-residence. He also was a well-known sculptor, specializing in kinetic sculpture with many commissions on college campuses throughout the United States, including a memorial kinetic sculpture, "Magic Flutes," at the Quincy Illinois Public Library. He is survived by his wife, Regan; three sons, Rex, Scott and Keith; and a daughter, Jane. Memorial services were held at Culver-Stockton College. The family suggests memorials be made to the Grant Kenner Memorial Art Scholarship Fund at Culver-Stockton College. March, 23, 2001 issue SEVERINE KIRKLAND Funeral services for Severine Kirkland, 90, of Natchez will be held Saturday, March 24, 2001 at 10 a.m. in St. Augustine Catholic Church in Melrose with Fr. Victor Vead officiating. Interment will be in St. Augustine Cemetery in Melrose under the direction of Blanchard-St. Denis Funeral Home. Mrs. Kirkland passed away Tuesday, March 20, 2001 at Cane River Guest House in Natchitoches. Visitation will be Friday, March 23, 2001 from 5-9 at the funeral home with a rosary service at 7 p.m. Survivors include two sons, Edward Metoyer of Chicago, Ill and Allen Metoyer of Natchez; 13 grandchildren; 24 great grandchildren; and 2 great-great grandchildren. Mrs. Kirkland is preceded in death by her husband, George Kirkland, one son, Paul Metoyer and two daughters, Cecelia Dupree and Gussie Metoyer. Mrs. Kirkland was a native of Derry and a resident of Natchez. She was a member of St. Augustine Catholic Church in Melrose and the Christian Mother's Society. She was a homemaker. March 21, 2001 issue ANITA LEMOINE MITCHELL Services for Anita Lemoine Mitchell, 63, of Robeline were held at 2 p.m. Tuesday, March 20 2001 in the chapel of Blanchard-St. Denis Funeral Home with the Revs. Eddie Edwards and James Whitehead officiating. Burial was in Central Cemetery at Robeline. Mrs. Mitchell died Sunday, March 18, 2001 in Dubuis Hospital in Shreveport. She was a native of Robeline, a homemaker and a member of Robeline United Pentecostal Church. She was preceded in death by her husband, James I. Mitchell; a son, William Mitchell; and sister Dorothy Hall. Survivors include two sons, Charles Mitchell of Robeline and Aubrey Mitchell of Toledo Bend; three daughters, Carolyn Toney of Lampee, Mo., Audrey McCarty of Robeline and Felecia Carpenter of Hagewood; one sister, Jan Hamous of Eunice; two brothers, Don Lemoine of Olive, Miss. Mr. Piece passed away Monday, February 26, 2001 in the LSU Medical Center in Shreveport. He was preceded in death by his mother, Sevelia Piece. His survivors include three sons, Edward Earl Piece of Fort Worth, Texas, Michael Piece (JoAnne) of Irving, Texas and Willie Piece III (Eleria) of Euless, Texas; four daughters, Elizabeth Mims (Reginald) and Alaxie Conley (Vincent) of Shreveport, Gloria Piece (Johnny White) and Dorothy Whitmore of Eules, Texas; father Mr. Willie Piece Sr.; step-mother Annie Lee Piece, both of Natchitoches; two brothers Aaron Piece (Ola Mae) and Edwin Piece (Dorothy) both of Houston, Texas; seven sisters, Annie Lee Helaire (Jessie), Martha Robinson (William), Gloria Sowell (Luther), all of Houston, Texas, Marie Helaire (Atlas Jr.) of Compton, Calif., Margie Piece, Mary Alice Davis (Jerome), both of Natchitoches and Brenda Roberson (Kenneth) of Desoto, Texas; 12 grandchildren; five step-grandchildren; a loving ex-wife, Elizabeth Piece; an aunt, Rosetta Turner of Natchitoches; and many nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
