Surviving relatives include his wife, Mrs. Mattie Prothro of Robeline; son Merritt Prothro of Norfolk, Va.; three sisters, Mrs. May Winn, Mrs. Christine Crump, and Mrs. Irene O'Brian, all of Marthaville; two step-brothers, John E. Walden of Marthaville, and Eulas Walden of DeRidder; step-sister, Mrs. Essie Goodrow of Monroe; one grandchild; and three great-grandchildren. Funeral services were held in Rocky Mount Methodist Church Sept. 20, with the Rev. Homer Bailes officiating. Burial was in Rocky Mount Cemetery, under the direction of Warren Meadows Funeral Home of Many. Pall bearers were Bud Crump, Bennie O'Brian, John Rabb, James Prothro, Jack Winn, Luther Nelson, Willie Prothro, and John Rabb.
