He confessed Christ at an early age, under the administration of the late Rev. A.J.Harris, Sr. of St. Peter Baptist Church in Campti, Louisiana God called him from labor to rest , December 2, 1984 at 11:30 A.M. JOSEPH VAUGHN was a Honorary Mason and a member of Lodge # 14 in Richmond, California . He leaves to mourn a devoted wife, Mrs. Mattie D. VAUGHN ; two daughters, Leola ALCORN of Houston , Texas and Jereline STEVENS of Hosston, Louisiana ; one brother Richard VAUGHN of Vallajo, California ; twenty -six grandchildren, seventy great-grandchildren, fifty great-great-grandchildren; one first cousin and a host of other relatives and friends.
