All rights reserved. http://www.usgwarchives.net/copyright.htm http://www.usgwarchives.net/la/lafiles.htm ************************************************ File contributed for use in USGenWeb Archives by: Lanelle Hanke lhbham@yahoo.com January 15, 2012, 7:25 pm NGHA Records - Old Natchitoches Parish Courthouse, recorded 1869 Certificate No.: Marriage Contract (Immediately following M.Tauzin/Azalie Perot marriage contract in same book, page 42) Marcelin Tauzin & Ismerie Brignon ----- Marriage Contract (written and signed 20 Nov 1866) Recorded Dec 20th 1869 ----- State of Louisiana Parish of Natchitoches Before me, Frederich Hertzog, Notary Public in & for the Parish of Natchitoches, personally came and appeared MARCELIN TAUZIN and MISS ISMERIE BRIGNON both majors in age and residents of the Parish and State aforesaid, who declared that whereas a promise of marriage exists between them, which they intend soon to solemnize, they do now enter into the following marriage contract which is to regulate the marriage relation between them as follows, to wit: 1st There shall be a community of acquets (looks like) and gains between the parties to exist from the date of their marriage - 2nd The future wife brings into marriage the following property, to wit: The promissory note of URSIN LAMBRE dated June 14th 1862, payable on the 14th of June 1863 to her or order, for the sum of three hundred dollars with eight per cent interest until paid; the promissory note of H. P. BOYD dated 27th July 1866, to her for the sum of forty dollars in specie bearing eight per cent interest until paid; and another promissory note of H. P. Boyd of the same date, payable to her for the sum of forty nine and a half dollars in greenbacks, both payable on demand. The future wife further brings into marriage the sum of Five thousand dollars, donated to her by her future husband as mentioned in the third article of this contract. 3rd For and in consideration of the love and affection which the said Marceline Tauzin has for the said Ismerie Brignon and in consideration of the marriage to be solemnized between them, he does by these presents make to her and to her children issue of the marriage between them who may survive her, a donation pure, simple and irrevocable of the sum of Five thousand dollars, which is to be paid to her by his legal representatives after his death out of the most available means of his succession, in case she, the said Miss Ismerie shall survive the present donor; and in case the said Ismerie shall die before the said Marcelin, [page 43] but leaving issue of the marriage then the said donation shall be paid to her children issue of their marriage, on the death of the donor; and in case of the predecease of the said Ismerie before the death of the said Marcelin, without issue of their marriage living at the time of her death, then this donation to stand revoked and to be null and of no effect - And this donation is accepted by the said Ismerie under the terms stated - 4th The property of the future husband consists of the following effects, viz: The plantation on which the said Marcellin [sic] Tuuzin now resides, with all the buildings and inprovements thereon, situated about three miles above the town of Natchitoches, containing about Five hundred and fifty acres, more or less, together with the stock of working animals and agricultural implements thereon, about seventy-five bales of cotton and other personal effects, not detailed in this contract, the details and value of which are to be determined hereafter in the settlement of the respective rights of the spouses; the property just hereinbefore mentioned being the separate and individual property of the said Marcelin Tauzin. The future husband also brings into marriage his interest in the community property belonging to the community lately existing between himself and his late wife, MARIE AZELIE PEROT, of which an inventory has recently been taken, the value of which community interest is to be ascertained in the liquidation and settlement of the community. thus done and passed before me, the undersigned notary, and in presence of the undersigned THEOPHILE E. TAUZIN, J. P. BREDA, FELIX METOYER and AMBROISE LECOMTE, competent witnesses of lawful age and domiciliated in this Parish, at the residence of MISSES AMBROISINE and ALIDA TAUZIN in the Town and Parish of Natchitoches. - In testimony whereof the said parties have signed this contract together with and in presence of the undersigned witnesses, and me, the undersigned Notary on this twentieth day of November in the year 1866 - /Signed/ Mlin Tauzin - Ismerie M.
