E. and Miss Eugenie Walette, which took place at the home of the bride's uncle, Mr. C. L. Campbell on Tuesday, Dec 31, 1918. The groom is a son of Mr. and Mrs. R. S. Childers, life time residents of this parish, and he is a successful young planter. The bride, likewise, is a daughter of one of the old Natchitoches families. Her parents are Mr. and Mrs. John Wallette. This wedding came as a surprise to many, as the young folks had kept their plans to themselves----but evidently decided to begin the new year in a double harness. The TIMES extends the young couple its best wishes for a long happy and prosperous life. I wonder how my old friends in old Natchitoches are getting along. Some people like France, but here is one soldier boy that don't like it at all. For Christmas we had a big parade and we had President Wilson and General Pershing with us and as the band played Dixie, every soldier boy wanted to step. This is a fine country for some People, but I would sure love to get out of it and let them have the whole thing. This little town I am in is Humes, France. The American girl need not be uneasy about her sweetheart in France, for the French girls don't look half as good as the American girls. Good bye with good wishes to every body in old Natchitoches. Hoping I will be back in a few months. CRIT H.
