Biography of Beret, A. F. Orleans Parish, Louisiana Submitted by Mike Miller December 1997 ********************************************** Copyright. Beret, 152 Elysian Fields street, New Orleans, was established by A. Goldman in 1861, and carried on by him until, in 1871, it came into the possession of the present proprietor. The business, under skillful and energetic management, has grown from small proportions to its present magnitude and embraces a general trade in drug and drug sundries and a carefully conducted prescription department. Dr. Beret is a native of Alsace Lorraine, which at the time of his birth belonged to France, but now is attached to Germany, and was partially educated in Europe. He came to New Orleans in 1871 and continued his studies here. In 1881 he graduated from the pharmaceutical department of the Medical School of Louisiana. As a druggist he has been progressive and enterprising, fully abreast with the times, willing always to add new features or to invest capital and branch out wherever an extension of trade has seemed the probable result, and his standing professionally and in commercial circles is deservedly high. He was married in 1876 to Miss Carmilita Larovly, a New Orleans lady of Spanish descent. From Biographical and Historical Memoires of Louisiana, volume 2, p. 284. Submitted by Mike Miller
