The death of Mr. Brechtel took place a few hours after his sixty-third birthday, which was on April 30. Although Mr. Brechtel has been in poor health for several years, he was confined to his home for only the past three weeks. His death, although not wholly unexpected, came as a great shock to both his family and friends. Mr. Brechtel was born in Germany in 1847, and came to this country when he was 15 years of age. He at once settled in New Orleans and has been a resident of this city ever since and for many years has been actively engaged in business. The deceased is survived by his wife, a daughter, Mrs. Harry McCaud, and a son, Frederick. The funeral will take place Tuesday afternoon at 4 o'clock and a body of Knights of Honor, of which Mr. Brechtel was a member, will attend. (Accompanied by a picture.)
