Contractor Succumbs at 78 Brechtel Funeral Rites to be Tuesday Lawrence G. Brechtel, a New Orleans marble contractor, died early Sunday in Southern Baptist Hospital. He was 78. Funeral services will be conducted at St. Dominic's Church, 775 Harrison Ave., Tuesday at 10:45 a.m. Interment willb e in Lakelawn Park Mausoleum. P.J. McMahon and Sons Funeral Home Inc., 4800 Canal, is in charge of arrangements. Mr. Brechtel, a native on New Orleans, designed and supervised the laying of marble in the Old Post Office building and in many other of the city's commercial structures. He also designed and erected custom marble mantles in many New Orleans Residences. Survivors include his widow, Mrs. Frances Schaefer Brechtel; a son, Roy Brechtel; a daughter, Mrs. Michael Mellaney; two brothers, Peter and Gilbert Brechtel; two sisters, Mrs. George Menhenick and Mrs. George Groetsch; one granddaughter, and three great-grandchildren.
