All rights reserved. http://usgwarchives.net/copyright.htm http://usgwarchives.net/la/lafiles.htm ********************************************** The father of Paul Louis Fourchy, attorney, New Orleans, La., Paul Francois Fourchy, is one of the prominent citizens of Louisiana, is a lawyer of ability, and has been president of the Merchant's Mutual Insurance company of New Orleans for the past twenty-eight years. Paul Louis Fourchy `was born in the city of New Orleans on September 7, 1861, and was educated in the Jesuit college of that city, afterward entering the University of Louisiana from which he graduated in 1882. He began the study of law in the office of Rouse & Grant of New Orleans and was admitted to the bar by the supreme court of Louisiana in March, 1884, after which in the same month he was admitted to the bar in the state of Mississippi. He was admitted to practice in the United States supreme court May 13, 1889. He is also a notary. Mr. Fourchy practices in all the civil and federal branches of the law. He is a member of the New Orleans Law association, is a democrat, and a member of the Catholic church. He is superintendent of the Orleans Levee board for the Bayou St. John. He is a member of the Crescent Democratic club and is first vice-president of the New Orleans City Park Improvement association, also treasurer of the Crescent Rowing club. He is third vice-president of the Public Belt Railroad association, is a member of the Chess, Checker and Whist club and is one of its founders. He is a member of the French Democratic association, of the Commercial club, and is attorney for the Merchant's Insurance company of New Orleans, has always made a specialty of cases against monopolies, etc., and has brought many to terms. Mr. Fourchy selected as his companion in life Miss Euphemie Morel of New Orleans and their nuptials were celebrated on February 24, 1886.
