What they are actually going to do is remove the remains from the tombs, and if they are identifiable, they will be stored while the "renovation" takes place. However, the titles to the individual vaults have been arbitrarily "voided" by the cemetery (Archdiocese). If one wants the recovered remains re-interred, one must re- purchase the vault, or make other arrangements for the recovered remains. This arbitrary action by the Archdiocese of New Orleans is outrageous. They are the ones that allowed the wall vaults to deterioriate. Individual tomb owners could do little other than clean the faceplates of tombs. Now, because of their inaction, many tombs will simply disappear, to be re-sold at a profit to the Archdiocese and with no thought at all to the sanctity of the remains interred there. Ah, the quest for money......
