Father Alardus Ignatius Maria Scheck
1825 - 1868
 A native of Munter in  Westphalia, Prussia, he was ordained in Cologne in 1848 and
ministered in Wipperfurth, Cangelt, Berzdorf and Bourheim. He came to America in 1867
at the invitation of Archbishop Jean Marie Odin and served as pastor of Holy Trinity
Church until his death the following year.
 Holy Trinity Parish was founded in 1847 to serve German Catholics of the Third 
District, from the river to the lake. THe parish scholl operated from the 1850s until 1965
when it was severely damaged by Hurricane Betsy. The parish church was closed in 1997.
the result of a dwindling congregation brought on by changinf demographics.
 Father Scheck was interred in a vault in the sanctuary of Holy Trinity until the church
was closed, at which time his remains were re-interred at St Roch Cemetery No 2
