Transcriber's notes are from Gardner's 1867 New Orleans directory and map combined with other resources. Data given may be subject to correction. Gardner's Greenville Directory, 1867 - 1868 Transcriber's Notes: Formerly, Greenville had at one time been the property of N. B. Lebreton, L. F. Foucher and Charles Derbigny. Foucher & Derbigny apparently owned the land between Lower Line and Pine. Lebreton owned the rest. L. F. Foucher also owned what is now Audubon Park. Looking at the 1867 map in Gardner's 1867-68 directory: Greenville was bounded by present day Lowerline street and Audubon Park and from the river it ended at St. Charles Avenue. From St. Charles to Mobile street (other side of Claiborne) was Eriburg. Beyond that was a suburb called Marly. However, data given in the 1867-68 Greenville City Directory itself, while in the same book as the map, shows parts of Eriburg listed as being in Greenville. Greenville streets were (are now): Walnut, Chestnut (Audubon St.), Magnolia Walk (Broadway), Locust (Pine) up to Lower Line (Lowerline). Per 1867 map. Crossing streets from First (St. Charles) to the river were: Carrollton, Ida (Benjamin), Louisa (Hurst), ? (Garfield), ? (Pitt), ? (Prytania), Ferdinand (Perrier), Elizabeth (Coliseum), Market (Chestnut), Lower (Camp), Water (Magazine), Front (Constance). Eriburg streets from First (St. Charles) away from the river were: Washington (Hampson), Second (Maple), ? (Burthe), ? (Freret), Magnolia (Zimple), 4th or Oak (Oak), Warsaw (Plum), Warring or Warren (Willow), Waffing or Jeanne (Jeannette), Wandorf (Birch), Rosa/Rose (Green), Sauve (Hickory), Destrehan (Cohn), Miro (Spruce), Gayoso (Panola), Canada (Sycamore), Vasco (Neron) and Mobile (Claiborne was cut on a diagonal between Neron and Mobile). Question marks given indicate areas on the map with overlays where the names of streets were not given. - A - Adams Ann widow Levee c. Chestnut Allenson Frank colored, laborer Lower Line b.
