Not even sure if that is correct. The memory gets a little rusty in 73 years! This heater was the "demand" type; no storage tank. It "fired up" when the faucet was turned on. Had a large copper tube coil over a gas burner. Had a reputation for blowing up. Something to do with the gas valve opening w/o the pilot being on. - - - - - - I believe the Halfway House had something to do with collecting fees for use of Shell Road - halfway to the lake. Now Pontchartrain Blvd. My great-grandfather and his wife were killed when their son's carriage horses were frightened by an alligator on Shell Road, so the story goes! - - -- - - The Jumbo drinks appeared on the scene toward the end of the Depression; didn't last many years.
