My dear Cousin Elvin:

No doubt, this letter will be a surprise to you but just as soon as I found
out I had a cousin in far Australia I determined to write. Uncle John sent
me your address and Papa says he knows you will be glad to hear from me and
especially to get a letter from New Orleans your dear old birthplace.

Let me introduce myself. I am the youngest daughter of Samuel Thompson, your
uncle Sam - my name is Margaret Johanna Thompson (but the folks call me
Joey). I am just entering my twenty-first birthday. I guess you remember the
old city of New Orleans also Papa. Papa tells me where you were born on
Frenchman Street. Uncle John says he hears from you and that you have a
daughter almost my age.

If this letter reaches you Cousin Elvin I truly trust you will answer me
also ask your daughter to write me.

I am going next month to visit Uncle John and Aunt Ann so Cousin Elvin when
you answer me mail my letter to Miss Margaret Thompson, box 285, Nassau,
N.P., Bahamas, British West Indies.
