All rights reserved. http://www.usgwarchives.net/copyright.htm http://www.usgwarchives.net/la/lafiles.htm ************************************************ AUTO PLUNGES THROUGH GUARD RAIL, TWO HURT Two men were injured about 2:45 am Monday when the automobile in which they were riding collided with a truck at Desire and Florida Avenue, Fifth Precinct police reported. Fifth Precinct police said following the collision the automobile went out of control and crashed through a guard railing on a bridge at the intersection and plunged several feet onto the bank of the Florida Ave canal before overturning. Hurt were Willie McCrary, Negro, 29, 580 N. Galvez, the driver, and Louis Mack, Negro, 26, 2001 Andry, a passenger in the car. McCrary was treated at Charity hospital for bruises of the left knee and left shoulder. Police said Mack left the scene before arrival of officers and the extent of his injuries was not known. The truck was being driven by Frederick Mitchell, Negro, 36, 3132 Metropolitan. Police said McCrary was booked with reckless driving and causing damage and injury and additionally with causing damage to city property-the guard railing of the bridge.
