YOUTH INJURED WHEN SCOOTER HITS CAR

   John C. Grout, 18, 8010 Hickory, received a possible skull fracture at
2:40pm Monday when knocked from a motor scooter in a collision with a station
wagon on Baronne at Melpomene, Second Precinct police reported.
   The youth, knocked unconscious when his head struck the pavement was taken
to Charity Hospital.  His condition is undetermined.
   Police said the motor scooter, being operated on Melpomene by Allen
Penniman, 15, 7934 Walmsley, with Grout as a passenger, collided with the
vehicle being driven on Baronne by Edgar McManus, 729 Flood.  Penniman also
was taken to the hospital but no injuries were found, police reported.
