J.P. Hamilton, a former steamboatsman, suicide at New Orleans on the 12th, by taking morphine and vitroil. He was not particularly desirous of an extensive obituary, but left word that in case his friends desired to make any mention of him to say: "Died - J.P. Hamilton of St. Louis, aged 52 years. Through B.L. by the morphine route to hell. St. Louis and Shreveport, La., papers please copy." Mr. Hamilton's request was gratified but hardly before he had reached his destination.
