Herbert Daniel Hughes, Chief Executive, Dies At 60

Herbert Daniel Hughes, president and chief executive officer of Diversified
Group Inc. in Harahan, died Tuesday of pancreatic cancer at Memorial Medical
Center.

Mr. Hughes was 60.

He was a lifelong resident of River Ridge and a graduate of Tulane University.

Mr. Hughes was a member of the Chamber of Commerce, the Westbank Lions Club,
Colonial Country Club, the National Pilots Association, Phi Delta Theta and
the World Presidents Club.

He was a former member of the Krewes of Bacchus and Alla.

Survivors include his wife, Dorothy Majeski Hughes; a son, Herbert Daniel
Hughes II; a daughter, Elizabeth Hughes DePass; his father, Hubert Buster
Hughes; a brother, Harold J. Hughes; and six grandchildren.

A funeral will be held Thursday at 1 p.m. at Lakelawn Metairie Funeral Home,
5100 Pontchartrain Blvd. Visitation will begin at 10 a.m. Burial will be in
Metairie Cemetery.
